With just a few simple ingredients, you can whip up a quick creamy chipotle sauce that adds a smoky, tangy kick to tacos, nourish bowls, salads or even roasted veggies.

If there’s one thing that can truly bring your dishes alive, it’s a good sauce. I created this healthy chipotle sauce recipe to add a little kick to a Mexican nourish bowl and fajitas!
What I love most about this sauce is how it transforms simple meals into something exciting. My family can’t get enough of it, especially on taco night. Even my kids, who usually shy away from anything spicy, enjoy the mild heat and creamy texture. With its creamy, zingy, smoky heat it really makes any meal special.
Using wholesome ingredients and an incredibly quick prep time, This smoky, spicy creamy chipotle sauce is healthier and far tastier than anything you’ll find on a supermarket shelf.

The Health Benefits of Homemade Sauces
Every time I have tried ready-made sauces, I find them full of additives and lacking the fresh, vibrant taste you can achieve with just a few ingredients at home.
Making your own sauces isn’t just about taste; it’s also a great way to ensure you’re eating healthier. For this recipe, I use Greek yoghurt as a base. It’s richer in protein and lower in fat than traditional cream-based sauces. Pair that with a little mayonnaise for extra creaminess, and you’ve got a balanced alternative to store-bought dressings.
Adding chipotle paste doesn’t just give the sauce its smoky kick—it also comes with health benefits. Spicy foods like Chipotle can boost your metabolism and even help with inflammation. Plus, by using sun-dried tomato paste, you get a layer of natural sweetness and depth without added sugar.
I’ve always loved experimenting with homemade sauces because I know exactly what’s going into them. This creamy chipotle sauce is one I can feel good about serving my family and as an added bonus they can’t get enough of it!

Ingredients You’ll Need for Greek yogurt chipotle sauce
Here’s what you’ll need to make this healthy dressing and sauce:
- Greek yogurt – The star of the show, adding creaminess and protein.
- Mayonnaise – A touch of richness to balance the tartness of the yoghurt.
- Lime juice – For that zingy, fresh flavour.
- Chipotle paste – Smoky and spicy, it’s what makes this sauce irresistible. Available in most supermarkets but be careful the spiciness varies from brand to brand
- Sun-dried tomato paste – Adds depth and a hint of sweetness.
- Salt and pepper – Simple, essential seasonings.
- Optional: Top with Aleppo peppers for an extra pop of spice and colour.
How to Make The BEST Quick Chipotle Sauce
This recipe couldn’t be easier to prepare and is a great make-ahead option, perfect for busy weeknights.

- Combine the Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, lime juice, chipotle paste, and sun-dried tomato paste in a medium-sized bowl.
- Mix everything together until smooth and well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Optional: Sprinkle with Aleppo peppers for a finishing touch.
Top Tips:
Let the sauce sit for about 10 minutes before serving. Trust me, this little step allows the flavours to meld together beautifully. I learned this the hard way after rushing to use it immediately—patience pays off!
I always recommend tasting as you go—you might want to adjust the lime or chipotle depending on how bold you like your flavours.
If you like your sauce on the thicker side, reduce the amount of lime juice slightly. For a thinner, pourable dressing perfect for salads or nourish bowls, add a little extra lime juice or water to loosen the consistency.
For an extra smoky kick, add a pinch of smoked paprika.

How to Use Creamy Chipotle Dipping Sauce and Dressing
This sauce is as versatile as it gets. We love drizzling it over tacos, fajitas, or no-burrito bowls. It’s especially good on a Mexican salmon bowl, where its creamy zing cuts through the richness of the fish.
Other ways to use this versatile sauce:
- A dip for Roasted vegetables or with my tasty Smoked Paprika Sweet Potatoes.
- A spread on sandwiches or wraps.
- A dressing for a simple salad to add that extra flavour.
- As a dip with tortilla chips or my favourite lentil chips
Storing Homemade Sauces
Homemade sauces like this are best enjoyed fresh, but you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days. I often make a double batch to have on hand for the week—it’s a lifesaver when I need to pull together a quick meal.

Diabetes Note
This healthy chipotle sauce is a great option for diabetes management because it’s made with Greek yogurt instead of high-sugar, store-bought dressings. Greek yoghurt provides protein to help balance blood sugar levels, while the healthy fats from mayonnaise support steady energy release. Plus, by making it at home, you can avoid hidden sugars and unnecessary additives, keeping your meals both flavourful and diabetes-friendly.
However read the labels on the mayonnaise, sundried tomato paste and chipotle paste to check for hidden sugars and additives
